Freegeek is a 501(c)(3)!
The big news around is that Freegeek Chicago is now a federally-recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization! Freegeek staff has been working on this for a while, and it's a big step forward for us.
If you donate to us now, we can give you a tax-deductible receipt, a bit more incentive on top of the assurance that we have probably the most stringent environmental standards of any computer recycler in the city.
With our 501(c)(3) we can also look at grants to aid in our recycling efforts (we do have to pay to recycle anything we don't reuse), and to otherwise foster organizational growth.
In the coming months, we will be targeting larger clients for donations. We would love to be the regular recycler for schools, universities, computer software makers, high-powered law firms, and financial companies that made poor lending choices and are now folding and need to get rid of their old hardware.
